About Nelspruit

Nelspruit (officially renamed Mbombela in 2014) is the capital of Mpumalanga and the gateway city to the Kruger National Park's western and southern entrances. The Mbombela Stadium hosted 2010 World Cup matches and gives the city event-and-conference combination capacity beyond what its size suggests. The CBD sits in the Crocodile River valley, with citrus and macadamia farms covering the surrounding hills.

Getting there

Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) is 25 minutes east — direct flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town keep the city within 90 minutes of major business centres. Drive from Joburg is 4–4.5 hours via the N4.

Subtropical climate — hot wet summers (October–March), warm dry winters. Marginally cooler than Hazyview due to higher altitude.
