Hluhluwe (pronounced Shluh-shloo-wee) sits in northern KwaZulu-Natal, on the edge of the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park — Africa's oldest proclaimed nature reserve and one of the country's most important Big Five game parks. The town itself is small, but the surrounding zone is dense with private game lodges, the iSimangaliso Wetland Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the Sodwana Bay diving destination. Conferencing here is destination-led, smaller-group, and game-lodge oriented.

Capacities are typically small (20–80 delegates) but the experience is differentiated.

When to pick Hluhluwe

Premium executive retreats, board off-sites, family-office summits, and incentive programmes where Big Five game viewing is part of the brief. The Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park is one of the world's most reliable rhino-viewing destinations and has a strong elephant population.

Getting there

King Shaka International is 2 hours 30 minutes north via the N2. Many premium lodges (Phinda, Thanda) operate their own airstrips for charter flights.

Climate and seasonality

Hot subtropical climate. Best game-viewing months are May–September (winter) when vegetation is sparser. Summer (October–March) is humid and rainy with peak afternoon temperatures often above 35°C.
