Bloemfontein ("flower fountain") is the judicial capital of South Africa, the capital of the Free State, and the country's sixth-largest urban area. The Supreme Court of Appeal sits here. It is the birthplace of the African National Congress (founded 1912) and the home of J.R.R. Tolkien.
