Jeffreys Bay (or "JBay") is one of the world's premier surfing destinations — the right-hand point break at Supertubes is consistently rated among the top five surf spots globally, and the World Surf League Championship Tour stops here every July. The town has grown around the surf economy: a beachfront strip of surf retail, a substantial seasonal hotel and apartment portfolio, and a notable reputation as the country's factory-outlet shopping capital (Billabong, Roxy and several SA surf brands have their head offices and retail here).

Where conferences happen

Mentors Country Estate, The Beach Hotel, Cristal Cove, African Perfection, plus a cluster of beachfront hotels and surf-camp retreats handle most conferencing. Capacities are small (20–120 delegates).

When to pick Jeffreys Bay

Surf-industry events (SA surf brand HQs are concentrated here), incentive programmes that combine working sessions with surf lessons, executive retreats wanting a beachfront character, and partner programmes paired with Port Elizabeth or Addo. The annual JBay Open in July is a strong incentive overlay if dates align.

Getting there

Port Elizabeth Airport is 1 hour west via the N2.

Climate and seasonality

Mild Sunshine Coast climate. Surf season peaks May–September when the Indian Ocean swells reach maximum size; this is also the off-peak tourism period and a good window for conferencing.

What to budget

Day-delegate packages R900–R1,600; accommodation R1,200–R3,500.
