About Modimolle

Modimolle (formerly Nylstroom) is a small Bushveld town 50 km north of Bela-Bela on the N1. The original name "Nylstroom" came from Voortrekkers who, on reaching the local river in the 1830s, mistakenly believed they had reached the Nile. The area is the centre of the Waterberg biosphere's game-farming corridor, with several premium lodges and the broader malaria-free Big Five experience within 30 minutes' drive.
