About Benoni

Benoni is an East Rand town, originally established as a gold-mining settlement and now a substantial mixed-use city with a strong industrial and aviation profile (Rand Airport, the Lakefield manufacturing area, and the South African Air Force Memorial are all here). It is the hometown of Charlize Theron. Conferencing here is mid-market and East-Rand-focused — most events draw delegates from the local industrial and aviation sectors.

Lakes Hotel and Conference Centre, Premier Hotel OR Tambo (Benoni-adjacent), Garden Court Benoni, Birchwood Hotel (technically Boksburg but a 10-minute drive), several mid-market chain hotels along the N12 and R21 corridor, plus a cluster of country lodges around Bapsfontein and Modderfontein. Capacities run 30–400 delegates.

When to pick Benoni

East Rand industrial and corporate conferencing, aviation-sector events (Rand Airport hosts general aviation and aircraft maintenance), and OR Tambo-proximate fly-in conferences. Significantly cheaper than Sandton or Kempton Park.

Getting there

OR Tambo International is 15 minutes south via the R21. Sandton is 35 minutes northwest via the M1.
