Muldersdrift sits west of Johannesburg in the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site — the area where some of the oldest hominid fossils ever found (Australopithecus africanus, Mrs Ples, Little Foot) emerged from the limestone caves at Sterkfontein and Maropeng. The terrain is rolling savanna grassland with small rivers, and the conference economy here is dominated by country lodges, game farms, wedding venues and team-building destinations. It is the Gauteng country-retreat zone.

Corporate retreats, executive strategy off-sites, team-building days, and weekend conferences where being out of the city is part of the brief. The Cradle of Humankind itself adds an unusual partner-programme angle for science, education and heritage-led events. Strong for incentive programmes that combine working sessions with horse-riding, hiking, and farm-stay experiences.

Getting there

Lanseria International is 15 minutes north — for fly-in events, materially closer than OR Tambo. OR Tambo is 50 minutes east via the N14 and R21.

Climate and seasonality

Same Highveld climate as central Gauteng. Open grassland exposure means thunderstorms are particularly dramatic in summer; outdoor programmes need a wet-weather plan.
