Fourways is the northwestern edge of greater Johannesburg, anchored by Montecasino — the Tuscan-themed casino and entertainment complex with its own Bird Garden, theatres and conference facilities — and the broader cluster of golf estates, country lodges and corporate retreats that fan out toward Lanseria and Pretoria. The character is leisure-adjacent: Sandton is 20 minutes south, but Fourways feels more residential and outdoor. Conferencing here often combines a working day with golf, team-building or after-hours entertainment.

Where conferences happen

Montecasino (the Palazzo and Southern Sun Montecasino) is the dominant venue — 9,000 m² of conference and event space, theatres, and on-site casino. Indaba Hotel (technically Midrand-side but operationally a Fourways venue), Maslow Sandton on the southern edge, the Fourways Mall hotel cluster, plus a strong list of country and golf-estate conferencing venues out toward Cradle of Humankind and Muldersdrift. Steyn City adds a luxury golf-and-conference resort experience.

When to pick Fourways

Corporate events that want a leisure or team-building overlay — golf days, casino entertainment, family-friendly programmes, multi-day retreats. Strong for incentive trips, corporate end-of-year functions, awards events and conferences where the partner programme is as important as the agenda. Less appropriate for events that need walking-distance access to Sandton or the inner city.

Getting there

Lanseria International is 25 minutes northwest via the N14 — for fly-in events, Lanseria is materially faster than OR Tambo. OR Tambo International is 45 minutes via the N1 (longer in peak traffic).

Climate and seasonality

Standard Highveld climate. The proximity to the Cradle of Humankind and the Muldersdrift bushveld adds a noticeably more outdoors character than central Sandton.
