About Centurion

Centurion is the city between Johannesburg and Pretoria — officially the southern suburb of Tshwane, but historically a separate town and still distinct in character. It sits along the N1 corridor with the Centurion Lake at its centre, a substantial cluster of corporate office parks (SuperSport, Vodacom, Sasol regional, Eskom Megawatt Park nearby), the SuperSport Park cricket stadium, and one of the country's largest concentrations of mid-tier conference hotels. The location makes it the default neutral-ground meeting point for events drawing delegates from both metros.

Where conferences happen

Premier Hotel OR Tambo Centurion, Southern Sun Pretoria, City Lodge Hatfield (Centurion adjacent), the Velmoré Estate, the Irene Country Lodge, the Wedgewood, Centurion Lake Hotel and a strong cluster of corporate-park training centres handle most local conferencing. Capacities run 30–500 delegates. Irene village just east of Centurion is a heritage cluster of country lodges and farm hotels with a notably different character.

When to pick Centurion

National-audience corporate conferences where delegates fly into both OR Tambo and Lanseria — Centurion is genuinely equidistant and lowers the cumulative travel time across the delegate base. Strong for mid-sized SA-wide industry conferences, training and accreditation events, and corporate stakeholder programmes for companies with split Johannesburg–Pretoria operations. Pricing is meaningfully below Sandton or Pretoria CBD.

Getting there

Both OR Tambo International (35 minutes east via the N1 + R21) and Lanseria (40 minutes west) work. The Gautrain has a Centurion station with direct links to Pretoria CBD, Hatfield and Sandton.

Climate and seasonality

Same Highveld climate as the rest of Gauteng. The Centurion Lake adds a small humidity buffer — slightly milder summer evenings than Sandton or Pretoria proper.

What to budget

Day-delegate packages R900–R1,500 at mid-tier hotels, R1,500–R2,200 at premium estate venues. Accommodation R1,800–R3,500 four-star. About 25% cheaper than Sandton equivalents.
